[Chapter 3] The philosophy of a tester: Plato
In the search for perfectionism, we become dysfunctional
We love perfect ideals things and Its easy to understand why, because as Rick Astley wisely said they Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down, Never gonna run around and desert you (opens in a new tab) but ideals also are never going to love us back, or even give us any kind of feedback, because a perfect thing does not need to move, it is already it's maximum expression.
Also how do we recognize the perfect form of things. How is a perfect tree? We recognize a tree but which one is the perfect one? In the same way there is no perfect feature or product.
Knowing all of this tells that our approach to Quality Assurance must not be tied to releasing the perfect product, but the one that is good enough respect to the plan that we delimit at the beggining.
Mostly because as Aristotle pointed out, that the success of one’s life depends on factors outside of one’s control.
